As a Team Member (Cook) at the Company, your primary role will be to carry out food preparation duties while managing a café-style kitchen, and occasionally managing the deli counter. Your skills in cooking, coupled with excellent customer service, will be integral to providing our customers with a satisfying dining experience.

This is a permanent role based in London SE18.* The nearest station is Woolwich on the Elizabeth Line.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist the Kitchen Manager on food orders from central kitchens and suppliers.
  • Help with the management of the kitchen and the training of staff in food handling and delivery, occasionally preparing menu items from scratch (approx. 15% of the offer).
  • Finish food items in the site kitchen, while occasionally helping the Front of House staff, including welcoming and serving customers.
  • Adhere to the Company’s recipe book, and prepare/cook a variety of food items including pastas, risottos, breakfast dishes, and other menu items in accordance with our recipes and presentation standards.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and food hygiene standards.
  • Assist with stocking and replenishing supplies and inventory.
  • Clean and maintain the cleanliness of dining areas, including the removal of dirty dishes and rubbish, and if required, operate washing equipment.
  • Open/close the restaurant, collaborate with other Team Members and generally contribute positively to the work environment.

Responsibilities

Must Have

  • 12 months experience in an Italian restaurant
  • Proven experience in food preparation
  • Knowledge of alcohol service low and regulation
  • Food hygiene certification holder
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic numerical skills
  • Pro-active attitude
  • Good coordination skills

Nice to have

  • Formal culinary training or professional cooking experience
  • Detailed knowledge of food preparation techniques and safety practices
  • Knowledge of Italian language and/or culinary culture
  • Some knowledge operating a Point of Sale (PoS) system
